2006-08-19 [iippo]: Ehheh, a girl-picture and a boy-picture xD
2006-08-19 [VeraAda]: Qua? :P
2006-08-19 [iippo]: Red picture with a flower, blue picture with... some boy things. :P
2006-08-19 [Skydancer]: white.. white... hmmmm white.. AAAAAAAAAAaaah
2006-08-19 [irulan]: Oops, thanks Sunrose. :D
2006-08-19 [Sunrose]: ^_________^
2006-08-19 [shotokan_gal]: Oooh, what a dress! o_o
2006-08-19 [irulan]: Thankies! Shameless plug: Want it? It's for sale. :D
2006-08-19 [irulan]: Wow, those clouds are amazing!
2006-08-19 [banu]: size is important?i did resize for my pic:)
2006-08-19 [Skydancer]: Ooooh Lovely stuff.. :) I also just for the sheer heck of it, put a satellite wiki into my entries wiki. :)
2006-08-19 [shotokan_gal]: Did you make it? :D *wants* But I probably couldn't afford it, heh.
2006-08-19 [irulan]: Nope, can't sew. It's a wedding dress that never got used for its intended purpose. ;)
2006-08-19 [shotokan_gal]: Oh o_O (suppose I should've perhaps guessed from 'the dress').
2006-08-19 [Skydancer]: chuckle.. in any case, it is indeed a marvelous display of white. I rather like the big thunderboomer clouds too.. though it does look a little scary. those things are way up in the stratosphere and must be really generating some intense weather.
2006-08-19 [Skydancer]: Nice bit of milk with the tea.. very nice shot.
2006-08-19 [spincrus]: Thank you :) To be honest the cup was empty ;)
2006-08-19 [Skydancer]: ah, well, then you just have to add the tea. I often had a friend that did product work use some of the most ungodly things to substitute for foods and liquid because the real things did not photograph well at all. :)
2006-08-19 [spincrus]: I thought about the same thing. The milk turned out yellowish in most cases so I had to cheat a little bit by adding some lemon juice in it. It worked a bit, but then I tried water with flour, but it had too many particles.
At last I settled on milk again, but the lighting was the toughest.
I can't tell you how many times I've spilled the milk over.
2006-08-19 [sequeena_rae]: Why didn't you just get someone else to hold it for you? :P
2006-08-19 [shotokan_gal]: Hehe... no wonder the cup was empty, or you'd be downing cup after cup of tea so it wouldn't overflow. "there's another ruined shot... put the kettle on again" X)
2006-08-19 [spincrus]: I didn't have anybody to hold it for me :D I'm a lonely person :P
2006-08-19 [sequeena_rae]: Awww xD
2006-08-19 [banu]: Pure as milk...What a beautiful name for your pic.I've liked it alot;)
2006-08-19 [Sunrose]: Great competition in the submissions ^_^
2006-08-20 [Madzeri]: i like the theme. pity i dont have a decent camera today! damnit.
2006-08-20 [birdsong]: erm...was i not supposed to add my name? I just noticed that my wiki is different...pe
2006-08-20 [Skydancer]: Nah, that 2 just means we have already entered once and this is the second time we competeing. You cannot duplicate a wiki name. :)
2006-08-20 [birdsong]: Ahh...thank you very much! It seems like great fun :D
2006-08-20 [pixish]: You add your name to the 10 Days of Photography mainpage first though :)
We have enough entrants for this round ^_^
2006-08-20 [birdsong]: Ok, i am sorry
2006-08-20 [pixish]: that is ok *^__^*
You can enter the next round ! :D
2006-08-20 [Madzeri]: wheeee!
2006-08-20 [VeraAda]: Woo, cool photos :)
2006-08-20 [Madzeri]: nice theme. i like it.
2006-08-20 [pixish]: sorry I'm late :$ I was enthralled in a forum and taking my weekly picture to document my diet progress :D I'll set an alarm next time I think ;p
2006-08-20 [VeraAda]: This one should have some really cool entries.
2006-08-20 [iippo]: :O *hash no streets in this forest-dwellin
2006-08-20 [Ghost the Hybrid]: i know what i should have put up.....but that would look really strange tho....
2006-08-20 [VeraAda]: Forest eh? You could take a photo of lots of branches and say they're the streets of your world... cos streets branch out, and branches, well, BRANCH out too :)
2006-08-20 [Ghost the Hybrid]: here are "streets" in the forest too but they are called path*smiles* i like my idea too^^ the streets in the sky :P
2006-08-20 [VeraAda]: That's a great idea! Do that. You have to. I won't have it otherwise. Skydancer's photo is brilliant :)
2006-08-20 [Ghost the Hybrid]: i can't do that well i can but i'm not in this round.....
2006-08-20 [VeraAda]: Oh yeah, i forgot *slow*
I had a bit of an idea for this theme too, it's kinda sucky though.
2006-08-20 [Ghost the Hybrid]: i know....
2006-08-20 [Elmiira]: Is it still possible to add the pic I forgot to put here yesterday..?
2006-08-20 [VeraAda]: I dunno- i think so, but don't take my word for it- i don't wanna be told of by pixie either for giving out possibly false info :P
2006-08-20 [Skydancer]: We have lots and lots of talent on Elftown.. "is proud of everyone"
2006-08-20 [VeraAda]: Oh, you're very nice! Sadly though, a lot of elftowners aren't here for art... *shakes head*
2006-08-20 [Elmiira]: well Ihave one.. and I'll upload when pixie says I'm allowed to. if not, then I just don't upload it. :)
2006-08-20 [VeraAda]: You do that! I'm sure she'll say yes though :Þ
2006-08-20 [VeraAda]: ...unless she says no in spite of me... O.O
2006-08-20 [Elmiira]: It's sad that there is so many people in here who do not even know what is the real meaning of elftown. But luckily there is also so many of those who DO remember it :P
2006-08-20 [VeraAda]: Yeah, a lot of the original members- like the early ones- remember. Too many cyberers etc. Too many people take it as almost like an MSN thing really.
2006-08-20 [Elmiira]: yeah.. and it's a bad thing. because we all can stay in MSN if we want that. And come to elftown when we want to enjoy and share art, fantasy and thoughts with each other..
2006-08-20 [Skydancer]: Very creative vision.. :) I like that image. The checker board pattern is particularly striking. And the bride and groom are very sweet.
2006-08-20 [iippo]: Thanks ^^
I recall Pixie saying that you can upload your photo late straight to your entry-wiki, as long as they're all there before the end of the entire contest.
2006-08-20 [spincrus]: Again, too hard of a theme for a one day's notice.
2006-08-20 [shotokan_gal]: You know spincrus, you say full view the pic, but then it's far too big for my screen (in both directions) so a little hard to appreciate properly :(
2006-08-20 [Skydancer]: Kind of looks like a flooded catacomb, certainly impressive moodiness [spincrus]
2006-08-20 [Skydancer]: Very nicely done Amy, it certainly has that hidden feel about it.
2006-08-20 [spincrus]: Thanks for the compliments :)
2006-08-20 [irulan]: Thank you. :)
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: They're all great! But i thought we weren't allowed to put up black and white pics? I dunno. They're awesome either way.
2006-08-21 [irulan]: I took it in B&W originally, so I thought it was okay - but please let me know if it's not Pixity. *edit* D'oh, it's not. Durnit, that's all I got for this theme anyway though. :(
2006-08-21 [Skydancer]: Wait a minute? why would it not be ok if the original was taken in black and white, not processed into black and white from a color original? I mean if I take a photo with black and white film does that mean it is not enterable? and in that case, why would a digital black and white be any different? As long as you are not using camera effects, then I do not see the problem. just my opinion of course.
2006-08-21 [Skydancer]: Come to think of it, my tunnel photo looks rather black and white, but it was actually shot in color, that is just the nature of the light that was available in the tunnel.
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: I don't know. All i do know is that in the round i participated someone entered a black and white pic and had to re-enter a coloured one- or something like that. I think [irulan]'s pictyure is beautiful the way it is.
2006-08-21 [Skydancer]: Hmm. I read the rules, but I wonder if she considered the concept of black and white as a perfectly legitimate photographic format. Of course it would only work for some themes.. Sparkling Azure Blue might be a little difficult in B&W, chuckle..
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: Hehe, touché :)
2006-08-21 [spincrus]: I think having it taken on B&W film should be OK. I'm assuming pixity ment that the B&W and Sepia configurations on digital cameras would be considered photo-manip.
2006-08-21 [pixish]: ummmm :o omg scandal !
No, umm, well if it was taken on black and white film I think it is ok :) And yes, [spincrus] that is what I did mean :/
umm, and don't anyone argue with me about there being no difference between black and white film and black and white settings on a camera ;p
2006-08-21 [Madzeri]: but no more B&W film! because i dont have any, and i want some so bad! mwahhahaa!
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: Mmm.... black and white... i'm planning on doing some of that when i'm not so busy with year 12.
2006-08-21 [pixish]: x)
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: Heehee. Hopefully we've still got all the equipment at home :D
2006-08-21 [iippo]: A lot of people have the habit of going "zomg! Black and white! So artistic!! Sepia! So artistic!"
Black and white photography has been a little 'ruined' by emos some people making it fashionable.
2006-08-21 [pixish]: shush, no emo bashing :p *pats the little dears*
2006-08-21 [Madzeri]: haha. not nescessarily emos...just people in general. i agree- black and white photography is now so sterotypically 'arty'. but i still love it!
2006-08-21 [iippo]: *fixes comment* :P
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: Hehe. I love it nonetheless. The people who have ruined it tend to take B&W photos of themselves most of the time....
2006-08-21 [spincrus]: I saw this caricature on a Turkish magazine two weeks ago. An old man, a beggar, a seagull and a guy labelled as "the totally random individual" were running away from a crowd. One of them was shouting "quick! the amateur photographers with black and white films are coming! run away!".
The crowd that chased them consisted of five to six people with thick glasses and overall bohemian outfits, and all of them carried cameras :D
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: Haha! xD
2006-08-21 [irulan]: I only have a digital camera, so yep had it set to black and white, not film. Sorry pixie!
2006-08-21 [pixish]: aws, it is ok, I still lub you ;p!
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: Who suggested this day's theme?
2006-08-21 [pixish]: me :p
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: Awesome :D
2006-08-21 [pixish]: ^_^
2006-08-21 [Madzeri]: oho! this is a cool theme.
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: Indeedy.
2006-08-21 [lady nytmare]: Tough though... *thinks deeply*
2006-08-21 [iippo]: Buh, this was uber hard. My camera is one of those that think a moment before actually taking the picture (think it does an auto-focus or something) so it's not good at going *snap! surprise!* at anything >_>
2006-08-21 [lady nytmare]: iippo, what exactly is that? In your photo I mean. Not auto-focus. I know what that is. ^^
2006-08-21 [iippo]: It's my dog. Yes, he's hugenormous X_x And ever so slightly overweight >_>
I did try to throw a thing at/next to him to make him jump and be surprised, but that's where my autofocusing camera failed me.
2006-08-21 [lady nytmare]: Lol. Thats a big dog. I thought he was a baby buffalo... :p Nice pic. ^^
2006-08-21 [iippo]: Yesterday on the walk, a lady asked me "how come the dog is so big?" o.O What are you supposed to answer to that? It grew up to be like that. It's not mutated if that's what you're asking... >_>
Sides, he's still a little puppy to me :3
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: I thought it was a bear! Cool pic though :)
2006-08-21 [lady nytmare]: Next time someone asks you that question, tell them it's because he's a half-breed between buffalo and bear. Then go on to tell them how difficult achieving this cross was :p
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: Haha. Weird :Þ
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: AW! The little boy is so cute! ^^
2006-08-21 [iippo]: I thought the 'suprice' was intentional, because the kid can't pronounce it or something... xD
2006-08-21 [VeraAda]: Yeah me too :P
2006-08-21 [Elmiira]: :D lol, I'm the little one who can't pronounce. :D Why did I chance it? :D It would have fitted perfectly and no one would have realised that I cannot pronounce.. :D
2006-08-22 [Skydancer]: Very sensitive bottom you have there Amy.... :)
2006-08-22 [spincrus]: The butterfly knows where to pirch Amy :D
2006-08-22 [irulan]: Hehe, I'm just glad I didn't sit down. ;)
2006-08-22 [VeraAda]: :D
2006-08-22 [shotokan_gal]: Elftown on the computer X) as always for some of us...
2006-08-22 [VeraAda]: :Þ
2006-08-22 [VeraAda]: Yeah, it's relly well captured!
2006-08-22 [Elmiira]: Note: my pic is not manipulated. It is original. :)(if someone should think it's blurred or something.. -.-)
2006-08-22 [Fire Panther]: Due to some personal issues I need to bow out of this round, I'm very sorry, this was unforseen
2006-08-22 [spincrus]: *hughs [Fire Panther]* We hope to see you in the next round ^^
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: Elftown, DA or Photosoftware, always one of those. :)
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: chuckle.. I wish I could run out and get a shot of a rainbow.. :) the rain in the cloud I was in today was more horizontal at 5800 feet.
2006-08-23 [spincrus]: I have a shot of a rainbow, but it's definitely not as pretty as [banu]'s entry.
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: Well, I have a few shots too, though not that delightful, I was just saying about being able to get a shot when you need it for the contest.. that.. is pure synchronicity. :D
2006-08-23 [spincrus]: I don't, for a second, doubt your talent in photography Marion. We have a saying in Turkish: "I have to eat a baker's full of bread to reach your level of experience" :D
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: chuckle... trust me, I wish I had more and better rainbows.. they are so much synchronisity and being in just the right place with the right lens and all :)
2006-08-23 [spincrus]: At least you have different lenses to work with. I don't, considering my financial limitations (and considering how I HATE to spend my father's money, even though he'd be willing to support me in such stuff).
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: Are you in the US?
2006-08-23 [spincrus]: Nope, Turkey. Used to live in the US for 4 years for college though.
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: Oh.. dear.. hmmm. Used Minolta gear is pretty cheap and not hard to find. I bet I do not have more than $1000 US in my camera, and the two main lenses I use all the time. I bought most of them used from a place called KEH.com and done well. It might be that there is something similar around your area, especially now that Konica Minolta is no longer in the camera business at all.
2006-08-23 [spincrus]: Well my sister and my bro-in-law live in NYC, so it wouldn't really be a problem for me to order a lens with my US credit card and get it shipped to them (and I'd just pick it up when I visit them the next time, or they come over for a family visit) but still I hate, absolutely HATE to spend my father's money. Not because I am aspiring to make my own money, but because I have such respect for him.
2006-08-23 [spincrus]: Besides, it's not hard to find those stuff in Turkey :) I'm calling my own country "the little USA" when it comes to certain stuff actually. I think we're more liberal and open than some of the European countries to be honest.
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: Ah, well, in my experience so far, limited in someways of course, but in general, I have been able to get minolta gear at way way under the prices for similar equiptment in other brands, Canon, Nikon and so on, and as long as I have been careful to read up on what lenses and such are the good ones, I have always been able to do very well with very little money.
2006-08-23 [spincrus]: I'm assuming it's because of the experience that your profession supplies you with, though. You're making a living from photography I understand (correct me if I'm wrong please) and you are far better at telling what lense is a great bargain and what is just overpriced.
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: Well, actually I live off a disability pension.. :) my work is income to some extent but I spend a lot more on my work than I make from it to be quite honest. My information on lenses actually came from reading the Minolta news groups on usenet, and just reading about various reviews by independents that put them through their paces in real life situations. In these days it really is rather old technology but it still serves me very well actually. :)
2006-08-23 [iippo]: Whee, just in time!
2006-08-23 [iippo]: This page is edited by pixie! xD I was just about to edit page and copy my entry's stuff into the own wiki thing. Talk about timing!
2006-08-23 [pixish]: sorries :3 *luff luff*
2006-08-23 [iippo]: Hmm, now I'll need to get my hands on some liquid chocolate... *toddles off to find*
2006-08-23 [pixish]: omg maybe I shouldn't have picked chocolate as a theme while I am on a diet :p I will have to stock up on diet jelly or something when tomorrow comes ;p
2006-08-23 [spincrus]: I'm on a diet as well and I seriously have absolutely NO reach to a chocolate.
Let's change the theme before it's too late...for both of us :P
2006-08-23 [pixish]: How about I share my diet jelly with you? ^_^ It is actually quite nice :)!
I did try making jellymallows with them.... add gelatine and beat with a stick mixer...but they were yucky :D
2006-08-23 [lady nytmare]: Mmmm. Chocolate. *follows iippo*
2006-08-23 [spincrus]: Oh oh, I think I know what to photograph :D
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: OOOOOOOOh my Stars and Dragons... now I have to go cook.. :D Hmm the liquid chocolate thing sounds innnnnnnnteres
2006-08-23 [iippo]: :O People nicking my liquid!
Fine, I'll just bombard myself to death with solid chocolate :P
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: no no.... it is just that females, and liquid chocolate have contributed to some of the most delicious nudes the world has ever seen.. :)
2006-08-23 [Elmiira]: muah! :D I have an idea..
2006-08-23 [shotokan_gal]: *is reminded wistfully of chocolate fountains*
2006-08-23 [Elmiira]: oh my god.. :S I took the pics already, I had a "wonderful" idea.. and it took time, money and quite much cleaning afterwards.. and then I realized that the theme was "death by chocolate and not "death to chocolate". that's why I'll have my own theme and if my pic does not suit you, I'll upload it anyway!
2006-08-23 [iippo]: Maybe it was a duel where both participants died... Both the chocolate and the... eater?
2006-08-23 [VeraAda]: Submit it anyway, sounds funnier :) and if it took that effort, then that's more of a reason to put it up anyway.
2006-08-23 [Elmiira]: okay I'll put it anyway. Because it was fun :P
2006-08-23 [Elmiira]: though the cleaning part was not so nice.. you can't imagine how well it stuck in there.. and in the end it was everywhere.. :D
2006-08-23 [spincrus]: I can't find chocolate anywhere. I think I won't enter anything for this theme.
2006-08-23 [VeraAda]: Wow, that photo is awesome!
2006-08-23 [VeraAda]: Oh i wanna eat some chocolate now.....
2006-08-23 [Linderel]: Teehee. [Skydancer], that's nicely subtle and yet... :D But omg, the evil that is Nestlé. o.O
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: chuckle.. What is really amazing is that I have that many different chocolates in my cabinets.. and that is only about 1/3 of them. I did not bother getting out the bittersweet, dark and pure cocoa bars I keep for baking... :)
2006-08-23 [Linderel]: Err... Lots of chocolate. o.o But I still mourn the fact that you have a Nestlé product among them. *sniff*
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: sure, when I make chocolate sauce for the bakesales, they do not rate organic chocolate... sorry but sometimes you have to deal with cost factors too and I use whatever is on sale for the cheap stuff. :) So what the hey, feed the soul, feed the world.. :) You know, I dont think I could live in Hershey PA though, all that odor in the air would just be too much for me. I like a dark, semisweet myself, and milk chocolate is just tooooooooooooo
2006-08-23 [sequeena_rae]: Cadbury's milk chocolate is the best thing ever xD I'm addicted to it o.o Especially their 'Twirls'
2006-08-23 [Linderel]: I'm actually not sure what kind of chocolate I like best. :o But some dark chocolates can be really good, even though I usually prefer milk chocolate. I can't stand white chocolate, though. :P
2006-08-23 [sequeena_rae]: I lurve the dark chocolate in After eights xD I love every chocolate going me thinks o.O
2006-08-23 [iippo]: Cadbury's is eeevil! :O The have the whole of England under this horrible chocolate monopoly, and their chocolate isn't nice Y_Y
2006-08-23 [sequeena_rae]: Oh yesh it is ;-; it's t3h beautiful.
Apart from the ones with Salmonella.
Galaxy is awesome too XP
2006-08-23 [banu]: I think that it is hard theme today, isn't it?:)
2006-08-23 [SimpleEuph]: lol.......this is a very initeresting photography contest....I will definately join....is there are place I signup?
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: indeed, sign up on the 10 Days of Photography page :)
2006-08-23 [banu]: is it important that our photo should include basic concept of theme?
2006-08-23 [pixish]: Well, there is a reason we have a theme :)
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: Well.. hmm. If you are trying to win then I suppose it would have to contain some reference to or be inline with the theme. Otherwise I would think, just my opinion you understand, that a judge would disqualify it for that day if it did not fit the theme. After all, that is what the contest is about. To be able to take a photograph each day, that fits the stated theme. It is supposed to stretch our abilities and our creative spirits as well as test our talents as photographers.
One of the reasons I am so enthused about the whole concept is that it makes me go out and take a new photograph that not only is good quality, but that somehow represents the theme. I could easily, in all honesty, just go into my library of images and pull up something, but somehow that just does not in my mind, fit the spirit of the competition. :) Again though, that is just my opinion on it all. Spirits bless.
2006-08-23 [pixish]: ^_______^
2006-08-23 [Skydancer]: Ack! Amy died of chocolate measles... :)
2006-08-23 [irulan]: And what a fine way to go!! :D
2006-08-24 [VeraAda]: Bouchée is definitely the best chocolate. Cadbury is ok. Lindt and Guylian and Fererro Rocher are good too. But Bouchée all the way :P Some white chocolate is nice- very nice actually. I like most kinds- white, dark, milk, marble, caramel, hazelnut, fruit and nut... most, apart from mint chocolate. That is the worst kind EVER.
2006-08-24 [Madzeri]: mint chocolate is fiine. i like anything to do with hazlenuts.
2006-08-24 [Madzeri]: ooh these themes sure are interesting!
2006-08-24 [banu]: sure,we have a theme but I belive that it is a perspective you can catch...imagin
2006-08-24 [VeraAda]: This theme is my second favourite so far. The first being 'streets of your world'
2006-08-24 [banu]: Yes,I've liked it but it is also hard theme to me.The important thing is that what it means to you...
2006-08-24 [VeraAda]: Yeah i have my own idea for it too.... :)
2006-08-24 [banu]: What do you think about my entry for today theme?
2006-08-24 [VeraAda]: It was unexpected, but i get it. It's nice and different :)
I like the second entry too.
2006-08-24 [banu]: :)thank you for nice comment:)I think I am a romantic:)
Yes,I have also liked second entry:)
2006-08-24 [VeraAda]: Hehe, that's ok :)
2006-08-24 [banu]: *smiles*
2006-08-24 [VeraAda]: :D
2006-08-24 [Elmiira]: why has no one else put up their entries? :S
2006-08-24 [banu]: no one else?:)I did:)))But,it is really hard theme today:)
2006-08-24 [banu]: I am so sorry if i overstep the limit but if the themes will be hard continual, can we find anyone that joined this round?Okay, tha
2006-08-25 [irulan]: Um...I don't think I've got anything for this one. *ponders*
2006-08-25 [pixish]: aws :( Well, remember you can intrepret the theme how you wish. It doesn't literally have to be 'opposites attracting'...
2006-08-25 [VeraAda]: I like your photo though :)
2006-08-25 [banu]: :)Thanks friends!I agree with you, [pixish] about theme if you imagine something about it...I am a contestant of this contest and I cant give up it easily:)
2006-08-25 [VeraAda]: Yeah, go for it :) It works :Þ
2006-08-25 [VeraAda]: Why's the latest entry a URL and not a photo?
2006-08-25 [VeraAda]: Oh it's fine now...
2006-08-25 [Madzeri]: there ya go kids, 3rd photo for todays theme.
2006-08-25 [VeraAda]: It's cool :)
2006-08-25 [VeraAda]: What a quick chnge of theme! I mean, just as an entry was put up, it was deleted...
2006-08-25 [irulan]: Nah, it's been up for a day hasn't it? I am stilling trying to think of something for opposites...
2006-08-25 [pixish]: It is 8 o clock my time :P Time for theme change.
Just remember that you are still able to submit for the previous theme in your own wikis, as long as it is in by the end of the competition :/
2006-08-25 [VeraAda]: It has but the fact the new entry was put up and deleted so quickly was weird for me. Right on time!
